As well as brothers, Wesley & Bryson Smith of the greater Springfield area will be among the participants as the Midwest Racing Association featuring traditional non winged sprint cars compete.

Part II The Smith’s:

Wesley & Bryson Smith grew up around racing , and moved from their native Texas to Missouri settling in Springfield where the family business All Metal Recycling is located.

Coming from stock car country, home to racing royalty in the fender set that has included the Ropers and Phillips among others. You might think the Smith boys under the tutelage of father Bryan Smith would follow that path In their racing endeavors. And that happened early on. But once Wesley made a name for himself in full sized open wheel cars, that path went in another direction entirely.

Wesley, driving the family owned midgets starting around a decade ago as a baby faced teen took to the diminutive racing machines like a duck takes to water. Over 20 plus wins later, with victories in series that included AllStar, Valley. Powri West, and RMMRA, Smith showed his racing chops.

Those results led to a sprint car ride running for the “Ageless Wonder” John Helm, in the iconic Helm 12. And the results there were just as impressive, including winning three Helm Memorials in a row, narrowly losing a USAC regional title in the MWRA in 2021 to Kory Schudy, while also over the years winning several more races in the WSR 44, and a victory driving for Brent Lewis in his 2L among other accomplishments.

Younger brother Bryson has also competed successfully in midgets, and now sprint cars driving the Smith 33. Last season,Bryson upped his racing skill set to an all time high, while also subsequently raising his confidence level after multiple top ten finishes.

Both Smith brothers are very excited for the 2026 season, and to race at their home track Springfield Raceway for the Aubren Dudley Memorial.

Bryson: “I’m very excited for this season, the way we finished last year really lit a fire under me. and I’m very pumped up for 2026. I’m also very excited to race with the MRA at Springfield, the track is only five minutes from where I live.”

Wesley: I’m very excited for the season, and to compete at one of my closest and favorite tracks. I grew up racing at Springfield Raceway, and I’m thrilled to run there with the MRA.”
